How the portal works

One puzzle a day, the same for everyone — and a few systems that grow around it. Here is how they connect.

Playing the daily

Every day, everyone worldwide gets the same puzzle, computed on your device from the date — so it plays even if the servers are down. You can start up to 3 different games a day on the free tier, with more tries per game and more games a day as your membership goes up. Returning to a game you already started never costs a new slot; only starting a fresh game does. Practice is separate and unlimited once you have an account — a signed-out guest gets 5 rounds a day — and boards regenerate on demand, never counting towards the daily.

Coins — a spendable balance

Coins are a reward you accumulate. Solving the daily pays 10, plus a streak bonus of 5 per day of streak, capped at 50. Signing in pays a little, once a day. Your balance is the sum of every entry in a ledger — so it can always answer why you have what you have — and awards are idempotent, so a retry never doubles them. See your ledger on your account.

XP and Level — earned by playing

Every solve pays XP, weighted by difficulty. Your Level comes from your total XP and never falls — it is a record of how much you have played, not how well. It is deliberately a different axis from Smart Power below: one rewards showing up, the other rewards playing well, and one number that did both would do neither.

Smart Power — how well you play

Smart Power is a 0–1000 score built from four parts: Skill (how your solves compare to the field), Consistency (how reliably you turn up), Difficulty (the mix you take on) and Momentum (days solved in the last seven). Unlike Level, it can fall after a quiet week. It maps to a tier — Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond — shown as a chip on your profile. The breakdown is on your account.

Points and Seasons — the competitive ladder

Season points are the ranked ladder, and they are scored differently from coins: only ranked solves count, each scored against that day's median at that difficulty, and a score is computed once and never rewritten. A player who never plays ranked simply has no season — not a zero. The leaderboards show today's board and the season ladder, and you can filter either to your friends or your team.

Friends

A friendship is one mutual link, made by sharing a friend link — a single-use, expiring token, not your account id. Once you are friends you can see each other's profiles, filter the boards to just your friends, and message each other in chat. Unfriending removes the connection and its visibility. Manage them on Friends.

Teams

You can be in one team, up to 50 people. A team has a shared room, a today's-daily goal, and its own Team Smart Power — which is not a sum: it is the power mean of the top members, multiplied by how many days and difficulties the roster covers and by how many are active, so an inactive member lowers the rating. Joining is by invite link or request. Manage yours on Team.

Duels

A duel is a friendly race with a friend or a matched opponent on the same practice board, named by a seed code so you both regenerate the exact same puzzle. Both times are self-reported — a duel is social, not ranked — so the honesty model is simply that your friend sees the same board. See yours on Duels.

How it all fits

Solving the daily is the one act everything grows from: it pays coins and XP, feeds your Smart Power and, when ranked, your season points. Friends and teams are lenses over the same solves — the same numbers, seen among the people you play with.
